Across the country, six children have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,459 new cases were reported. Since March 15 this year, a total of 415 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms, while the number of infections has reached 50,500.
These figures were released on Monday in the latest report of the Directorate General of Health Services. The data cover the period from 8:00 am on March 15 to 8:00 am on May 11.
According to the report, over the past one and a half months, 65 children have died from laboratory-confirmed measles, while another 350 children died after showing measles symptoms. During the same period, 6,937 people were confirmed to have measles through testing. In addition, 50,500 patients with measles symptoms sought hospital treatment.
The highest number of infections and deaths was reported in the Dhaka Division. In this division alone, 182 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms, and 27,489 people have been infected.
