The Bangladesh government has strongly condemned the Houthi drone attack on the Taibah power plant in the holy Saudi city of Madinah.
The condemnation was issued in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
The statement said deliberately targeting critical civilian infrastructure serving the Prophet’s Mosque was an unacceptable assault on the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.
The statement said the Bangladesh government stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in protecting its security and sovereignty.
The statement further said Bangladesh strongly rejects any aggressive actions that undermine regional peace and stability.
According to the Saudi led military coalition, a drone attack was carried out on the Taibah power distribution center in Madinah early on September 29. The facility supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque. Although a transformer was damaged in the attack, there was no disruption to the power supply.
The Saudi coalition claimed that an examination of the drone debris confirmed that Yemen’s Houthis were behind the attack.
However, the Houthi group rejected the allegation as completely “false and vile propaganda.”
