Four killed in bus-private car collision in Gazaria

Four people were killed and another was seriously injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a private car on the Dhaka Chattogram Highway in Gazaria of Munshiganj.
The accident occurred around 2:30 pm Saturday at the Jamaldi Bus Stand area on the Dhaka Chattogram Highway.
The deceased were Mjibur Rahman (55), Shamima Akter (45), Sabiha Chowdhury (43), all passengers from the Gendaria area of Dhaka, and driver Sohel.
Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, said two rescue units from the Gazaria Fire Station reached the scene and began rescue operations after receiving information about the accident at 2:38 pm. The private car driver was rescued dead and handed over to highway police.
Fire Service sources said there were five people in the private car including the driver at the time of the accident. They were heading toward Dhaka after having a meal at Miami Restaurant. Meanwhile, a passenger bus named New Baleshwar was heading toward Chattogram. The bus collided with the private car in the Jamaldi Bus Stand area. The private car was badly mangled in the collision.
After the accident, Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and sent them to a hospital. Doctors there declared three more people dead. One critically injured person was referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment in critical condition.
