Current government has failed: Mahmuda Mitu

Dr. Mahmuda Mitu, member secretary of Jatiya Nari Shakti and an NCP reserved women’s seat Member of Parliament, has described the BNP government as strategically unsuccessful. She made the claim in a Facebook post on Thursday.

In the post, Mitu wrote, “A government’s success depends on how efficiently it can handle a situation during a crisis. By that measure, the current government has failed.”

In the comments section of the post, a person named Masukur Rahman wrote, “You are also part of the government as MPs. So, you are 1000% successful.”

Another commenter, Gazi Zahid Hasan, wrote, “According to your language, this government has failed in every way.”

A person named Mohiuddin Sarker Munna wrote, “Pointing out the government’s mistakes and shortcomings is certainly part of the opposition’s responsibility. But is the opposition’s job only to obstruct the government’s work and make the country’s situation abnormal through protests and movements? When a country goes through a crisis, the responsibility of both the government and the opposition should be to put the interests of the people first. Rather than turning a crisis into a political tool, responsible politics means working together to address the crisis, pointing out the government’s mistakes constructively and, when necessary, proposing practical solutions. If the government fails, ask questions and ensure accountability. That is democracy. But disrupting the country’s normal situation and increasing people’s suffering can in no way be considered the ideal of responsible opposition politics. The country comes first. The responsibility of both the government and the opposition should be to move the country toward solutions together without making the country more unstable during a crisis.”

However, many people also expressed solidarity with Mitu in the post.
