HSC examinees protesting to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon blocked the road outside the National Parliament Tuesday night.
The protesters took position on the road in front of the Parliament building at around 8:00 p.m. During the demonstration, a bus belonging to Bihanga Paribahan was vandalized.
Expressing frustration over the incident, bus driver Robiul Islam said, "I will never pick up students again. If necessary, I'll quit my job in public transport. They also took the keys to my bus."
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, the students resumed their protest by blocking the Science Lab intersection. They later marched to the Parliament building and staged a sit-in outside it.
Police later dispersed them with a baton charge in the evening. A short while later, the protesters regrouped outside Parliament.
Meanwhile, during the protest, the education minister held a meeting with the prime minister. Later, while addressing Parliament, he expressed regret over his earlier remarks.
