Youth detained over alleged hacking deaths of mother and niece in Cumilla

A woman and a child were found dead with bloodied bodies at a house in Debidwar, Cumilla. Another woman was found injured. A youth named Md. Emon was detained from the scene.
Additional Superintendent of Police of the district Pankaj Barua told Agamir Somoy about the incident. It took place in the Master Bari area of Barshalghar Southpara in the upazila.
According to Debidwar Police Station sources, neighbors saw three people lying injured and covered in blood at a house in the Master Bari area. They restrained the youth who was staying at the house and informed the police. Police later arrived and found two people dead and another injured.
Locals said the deceased woman was Emon’s mother and the child was his niece. She was two years old. The injured woman was Emon’s sister-in-law. She was sent to a local hospital.
