Bangladeshi Man Killed in BSF Firing in Kulaura

A Bangladeshi man has been killed in firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar. The incident took place on Friday afternoon at the Dattagram border area of Sharifpur Union in Kulaura. The victim has been identified as Mujibur Rahman.
Kulaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahirul Islam Munna confirmed the incident around 7:30 pm on Friday. He said that police had been sent to the scene after receiving the news.
Acting Chairman of Sharifpur Union Parishad, Nipa Rani Das, said that according to information gathered, Mujibur entered Indian territory after going into the Monu River at Nishchintapur area in the afternoon, after which he was shot by the BSF. As of 9 pm, his body was still lying at the scene.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Sarkar Asif Mahmud, commander of Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB), said that they have received reports of gunfire along the border and are collecting detailed information about the incident.
