PM Orders Action Against Six Officials Over Negligence

The Prime Minister has directed disciplinary action against six more officials of Dhaka North and South City Corporations over allegations of negligence in dengue prevention, waste management, and drainage maintenance. Authorities have been given a 48-hour deadline to initiate their withdrawal and disciplinary procedures for failure in duty.
Local Government State Minister Mir Shah Alam confirmed the development.
On Friday, the Prime Minister visited several areas of Dhaka city to observe the post-Qurbani waste management situation. During the inspection, he expressed dissatisfaction over slow waste removal and garbage remaining on roads.
Following the Prime Minister’s visit, two regional executive officers of Dhaka North and South City Corporations were withdrawn and attached to the Public Administration Ministry. They are Md. Sadequr Rahman, Regional Executive Officer of DNCC, and Kazi Saleh Mostanjir, Regional Executive Officer of DSCC.
Subsequently, instructions were issued to take action against six additional officials. Under the directive, disciplinary measures will be taken against the chief executive officers, chief waste management officers, and chief health officers of both Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporations.
Minister Mir Shah Alam said the officials were ordered to be withdrawn and face disciplinary action due to failure in waste clearance, drainage maintenance, and dengue control efforts. He added that steps are being taken quickly to implement the directive.
Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony said the inspection was attended by the Local Government State Minister, Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Abdur Salam, BNP National Executive Committee Special Secretary Muhammad Belyat Hossain, and the Prime Minister’s Personal Secretary Advocate Mehedul Islam.
During the visit, the Prime Minister inspected waste management conditions in Gulshan, Rampura, Malibagh, Sayedabad, Jatrabari, Gulistan, Shahbagh, New Market, Dhanmondi, Farmgate, and Mohakhali, among other areas of Dhaka city.
