Authorities postponed the recruitment exam of assistant upazila youth development officer under the Department of Youth Development on Saturday due to question paper leak allegations.
They announced the notice just 15 minutes before the exam was set to begin. The exam for the 11th-grade position was scheduled for 11 am. Examinees expressed anger over the sudden decision.
Protesting the exam suspension, students held protest in front of various examination centers across Dhaka. They blocked the road in front of Tejgaon College in Farmgate, voicing anger and frustration over the abrupt postponement.
Hedayatullah, an examinee who traveled to Dhaka from Nilphamari, was assigned to Siddheswari Girls College as his test center. He said he waited at the center after not receiving his question paper at the scheduled time until teachers arrived and informed them about the exam postponement.
Another candidate, Ashik, who traveled from Chattogram for the test, said, “I came to Dhaka spending so much money. Now after arriving, I hear that the exam will not take place. If the exam was to be postponed like this, it should have been announced beforehand.”
The recruitment exam for 242 posts was scheduled across nearly 100 centers in Dhaka. However, allegations regarding a question paper leak surfaced on the night before the test, with many people sharing social media updates about the issue.
