Junior Minister says Hasina will be arrested as soon as India sends her back

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed has said that Sheikh Hasina will be arrested and sent to jail as soon as she is sent back from India. She made this statement while speaking as the chief guest at a views‑exchange meeting on overall improvement of the law and order situation, held on Tuesday (8 September) at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner of Madaripur.

In the meeting, the junior minister said: "What a convicted person says while sitting somewhere is not a matter of consideration. Dictator Sheikh Hasina and many of her party people have fled to India. Discussions are ongoing with the Indian government to bring her back under the agreement."

Regarding the Mecca Pact, Shama Obaed said: "No decision has been taken on whether Bangladesh will join this temporary defense coalition. In the future, before joining any new forum or group, government of Bangladesh will follow the country's foreign policy."

The meeting was presided over by Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Nargis Akhter. Others present included—central BNP Co‑Education Affairs Secretary and Member of Parliament Helen Zerin Khan, central BNP Co‑Mass Education Affairs Secretary and MP for Madaripur‑3 constituency Anisur Rahman Talukder Khokon, MP for Madaripur‑2 constituency Jahandar Ali Miah, MP for Madaripur‑1 constituency Saeed Uddin Ahmad Hanzala, and Madaripur Police Superintendent Md. Fazle Elahi, among others.
