Fire triggered by family feud kills man, injures 4

A victim died from a fire incident triggered by a family feud in Sutrapur, Dhaka on Friday.
National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery Resident surgeon Md Sultan Mahmud Sikder confirmed the matter. The deceased has been identified as Siddique Member, 60.
Sultan said Siddique sustained 35 percent burns on his body, and hospital staff kept his body in the morgue. Siddique’s son, Saudi Arabia expatriate Md Emon, succumbed to burn injuries in the same incident, while three other individuals are receiving medical treatment.
Siddique’s daughter Sultana added, “Three days ago, my younger sister Sathi had a quarrel with my cousin’s wife Sonia. Later on Friday, my brother Emon arrived from Saudi Arabia. Enraged over that quarrel, Emon poured petrol inside the room and set it on fire in the afternoon,”.
Sonia noted, “On Saturday afternoon, Emon threatened to kill everyone, saying, ‘I will die too, and I will kill you all too.’ Emon poured petrol on himself and everyone else before setting the room ablaze.”
The remaining burn victims undergoing treatment include Siddique’s two nephews, Md Rajib, 35, Md Dulu alias Arif, 36, and his niece, Mst Tania, 17.
Sultan said Rajib suffered 15 percent body burns, Dulu suffered 8 percent, and Tania suffered 60 percent body burns, adding that their conditions remain critical.
