President calls for effective measures to stop border killings

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to take more effective measures to curb smuggling, drug trafficking, push-ins, and border killings, while also praising the force for its crucial role in border protection.

He made this call during a courtesy meeting with BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui at Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.

According to the President's Press Wing, the BGB Director General congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam on assuming the presidency during the meeting. He also briefed the President on the force's overall activities and its initiatives to incorporate state-of-the-art drones and modern technology to enhance border surveillance.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam stated that the role of the vigilant BGB in stopping smuggling, drug trafficking, and human trafficking at the border is extremely important. He praised the BGB's initiative to integrate modern technology into the force for border security and assured full cooperation in this regard.

The President's Secretary and senior officials were present during the meeting.
