Tourists to Leave Sajek on Friday Morning

Tourists stranded in Sajek Valley after floodwaters inundated the only access road due to continuous rainfall will be able to leave on Friday. They will be allowed to depart from Sajek with the Army's first escort at 8 am.
The decision was made at a joint meeting between the Sajek Resort Owners Association and the local administration on Thursday night. The information was confirmed to Agamir Somoy by Suparna Deb Barman, president of the Resort Owners Association.
He also confirmed that announcements would be made across Sajek via loudspeakers on Thursday night to inform the tourists who have already been stranded for two consecutive days. He expressed hope that the situation would not worsen overnight.
Nearly 600 tourists are stranded in Sajek. Of them, 150 left Sajek in two phases on Thursday. About 450 tourists still remain stranded there.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Rangamati district administration declared the Sajek Valley tourist destination closed.
