The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has taken special security measures in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban to ensure the peaceful and festive celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja. As part of the measures, four platoons of BGB personnel will be deployed to secure Puja mandaps from October 16 to 22.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Alikadam Battalion (57 BGB) on Thursday.

According to the press release, reconnaissance of the Puja mandaps has already been completed ahead of Durga Puja. Regular patrols, intelligence surveillance and efforts to identify potential risks will be conducted to ensure overall security at the mandaps. Security measures will also be strengthened in coordination with the local administration, police and Puja celebration committees.

Special emphasis has been placed on preventing rumors, misinformation and communal provocation. BGB personnel will remain vigilant and perform their duties to address any untoward situation, the press release said.

It also stated that maintaining communal harmony and peaceful coexistence requires public awareness and cooperation alongside coordinated efforts by law enforcement agencies. In this regard, the public has been urged not to be misled by rumors and propaganda. Anyone who notices suspicious activities has been requested to inform the nearest BGB camp or law enforcement agency.

In the press release, 57 BGB extended Durga Puja greetings to members of the Hindu community and called for maintaining communal harmony, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
