HSC examinees have gathered outside the Bangladesh Secretariat after blocking the road at Science Lab intersection in the capital, pressing three demands, including the resignation of Education Adviser Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon. Police obstructed them there.
At around 3 pm on Wednesday, the examinees began marching toward the Secretariat from Science Lab intersection. After 3:45 pm, when the students reached the area in front of the Secretariat, police stopped them with barricades.
The students’ three demands include the suspension of the HSC and equivalent examinations until the impacts of flooding and waterlogging have completely subsided, arrangements for a re-examination for students who were unable to sit for the tests on July 13 due to inclement weather, and the resignation of the education adviser.
The students said the movement would continue until their demands are met.
Meanwhile, police have remained on alert at the protest site, including with water cannons, to avoid any potential violent situation.
Earlier in the day, at around 1:30 pm, protesting students took position on the main road in front of the BNS Center in Uttara. A short time later, the same program was carried out on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway.
