'Bangladesh-US Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement' signed

Bangladesh will receive cooperation from the United States in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. To this end, both sides have signed an agreement.
The news of the signing of this agreement on strategic civil nuclear cooperation was posted today, Saturday, on the Facebook page of BNP's media cell.
Rehan Asad, Advisor on Science and Technology to the Prime Minister, signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh, and Jacob Helberg, Under Secretary for Economic Affairs of the United States, signed on behalf of the United States.
Diplomatic sources say that this agreement was signed as a continuation of the nuclear cooperation initiative that began in 1981 during the rule of Ziaur Rahman.
The agreement will increase scientific cooperation between Dhaka and Washington in technological exchange, nuclear security, and the civil fuel sector, the source said.
Bangladesh is already receiving cooperation from Russia in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Work on the nuclear power plant at Rooppur in Pabna has advanced significantly.
