EC announces 5-phase UP election roadmap

Election Commission (EC) announced the roadmap for the Union Parishad (UP) elections on Monday, which will take place across five phases.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah confirmed the matter in a news briefing following a meeting at Agargaon, Dhaka. The first phase of voting is scheduled for 21 January 2026.

According to the EC, voting in the second phase will occur on 4 February. Following that, the third phase will take place on 29 April, the fourth phase on 13 May, and the fifth phase on 27 May.

Earlier, the EC met to finalize the schedule and phased timeline for the UP elections. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin presided over the meeting, which four Election Commissioners and officials from the EC Secretariat also attended.
