President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon political parties to engage in the politics of compromise, avoiding any kind of conflict and bloodshed.

He said, "We have achieved this country through much bloodshed, and we do not wish to see any more bloodshed. We want to protect the democracy for which we fought and to further strengthen democratic institutions."

The President made these remarks today (Sunday) at a reception ceremony organized at the Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School ground. This was his first visit to his home district since assuming the office of the President.

Emphasizing harmony among people of all faiths, he said, "There can be no division among Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians. The primary goal of the current government is to ensure that everyone can live together in peace as equal citizens of an independent Bangladesh."

Addressing the leaders of political parties, the President said, "You may propagate your own politics and ideologies, but stay away from clashes or conflicts. Political practice should be conducted through dialogue and discussion, because the main foundation of democracy is tolerance. We must move forward with this spirit of tolerance."

He added that the country will stand by those who work with honesty and sincerity for the welfare of the people. The current focus should be on how to eradicate poverty and deprivation from the country and how to improve the quality of education.

Recalling his birthplace, the President said, "I was born and spent my childhood here. The teachers of this soil have shaped me. Wherever I am, I will stand by the people of Thakurgaon. Never think that I have gone far away."

Affirming his commitment to protecting the country's sovereignty, he said, "Even at the cost of my life, I will continue to work to protect Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, and the democratic rights of its people."
