Fourteen leaders have resigned from the newly formed 51‑member convening committee of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Fulbaria of Mymensingh, citing allegations that some members are accused in cases related to the Anti-July movement and homicide.

Among those who stepped down are a senior joint convener, joint conveners, an organising secretary, a joint member secretary, and the wife of a July martyr.

They announced their resignations at a press conference held at the Fulbaria Press Club on Saturday afternoon.

On 7 August, the district NCP convener, A.T.M. Mahbub Ul Alam, and member secretary, Jasim Uddin, had approved a 51‑member committee for the Fulbaria branch, with Md. Munjurul Haque Mamun as convener, Engineer Sanaullah as senior joint convener, Engineer Omar Sharif as joint convener, and Md. Anwar Hossain as member secretary.

At the press conference, those present included Senior Joint Convener Md. Sanaullah, Joint Convener Engineer Omar Faruk, Organising Secretary Nabi Hossain, and Joint Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jobayer.

In their statements, they said that the committee had been announced with Md. Munjurul Haque Mamun as convener, who is an accused in a murder case and a leader of the Jatiya Party, which they described as a collaborator of (Awami League) fascists. They added that the committee contains many controversial figures. Despite informing the district leaders, no action was taken, prompting the following 14 members to resign from their posts:

In his response, Convener Md. Munjurul Haque Mamun said that the convening committee had been formed after consulting everyone, and that there were no controversial people in the committee. He added that he was not aware whether any Jatiya Party member or anyone accused in murder cases had been included in the committee.
