Flash procession by Awami League at Dhanmondi, hand-bombs explode

Two hand bombs were detonated during a flash procession organized by the banned Awami League in the capital's Dhanmondi area.
Following the incident, which occurred around 12:00 PM on Saturday, three individuals were detained, according to Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Imdadul Islam Tayyab.
Witnesses reported that the procession started near Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhanmondi and ended in front of the Dhanmondi Bata outlet. During this time, two crude bombs were exploded.
Participants in the procession carried a banner labeled "Mohammadpur Thana Awami League."
A local source informed Agamir Somoy that the flash procession was led by Tariquzzaman Rajiv, former councillor and general secretary of Mohammadpur Thana Awami League.
OC Muhammad Imdadul Islam told Agamir Somoy that the banned Awami League carried out a brief procession and they exploded crude bombs. Three individuals were detained and a banner was recovered as they attempted to flee after the procession ended.
Meanwhile, Mohammadpur Police Station OC Abdul Halim reported that another individual was detained while fleeing after participating in the procession and bomb explosion in the Dhanmondi area.
The activities of the Awami League, which was ousted during the July 2024 uprising, remain banned, leaving the party with no opportunity for public programs.
However, supporters of the party continue attempting to hold isolated processions, and police have been making arrests from these events.
