Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed concern over the country's law and order situation. He claimed that the government's failure to ensure public safety has left people feeling the need to think about their own security.
In a Facebook post on his verified account Tuesday morning, he made the remarks while referring to the recent attack and vandalism at the office of an internet service provider in Chattogram.
Dr. Shafiqur said authorities should disclose the social and political identities of those involved in the attack, if any. He also called for their immediate arrest and exemplary punishment under the law.
However, he questioned whether the perpetrators would actually face strict punishment, writing, "The signs are not very good."
Calling for a proper investigation into the Chattogram attack and swift legal action against those responsible, he ended the post by asking, "Who is backing them?"
