Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has formally notified the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of its decision to expel Ghazi Nazrul Islam, Member of Parliament for the Satkhira-4 constituency, from the party.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner on Thursday, the party's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar stated that an organisational inquiry was conducted regarding recent news published in various media outlets about Ghazi Nazrul Islam. The investigation found his moral misconduct proven, leading to the decision to expel him from the party under Article 62 of the Jamaat-e-Islami constitution.

The letter further stated that the decision was taken unanimously at an emergency meeting of the central executive council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, held on July 22 under the chairmanship of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

In this context, the Election Commission has been informed of the expulsion of Ghazi Nazrul Islam for their knowledge and necessary action.

A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Speaker of the National Parliament.

Recently, a video of Ghazi Nazrul Islam's personal moments went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion. Following a party investigation, which concluded that the allegations of moral misconduct were proven, the party expelled him from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on July 22.
