The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has submitted its annual income and expenditure report to the Election Commission. A three member delegation from the party formally submitted the report to the Election Commission Secretariat shortly after 12 pm on Sunday.

According to the information provided by the party, its total income in the last fiscal year was Tk 22,19,65,182, while total expenditure stood at Tk 15,26,10,857. The BNP currently has a surplus of Tk 6,93,54,325 in its party fund.

The delegation was led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. The other members were party Treasurer M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and Assistant Office Secretary Monir Hossain.

They handed over the party’s audited annual financial report to Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Hossain.

Political parties generally report income from regular membership subscriptions, donations from individuals and well wishers, and proceeds from the sale of party nomination forms.

On the expenditure side, parties report spending on organizational activities throughout the year, implementation of political programs, publication of campaign materials and posters, maintenance of central and local offices, salaries of officials and employees, and financial assistance for distressed party leaders and activists.

Under the Representation of the People Order, every registered political party in Bangladesh is required to submit its audited income and expenditure report for the previous calendar year to the Election Commission by July 31 each year. Any party that fails to submit its financial report for three consecutive years is subject to cancellation of its registration under the law.
