Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Executive Member Sarba Mitra Chakma has urged the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) to exercise restraint over the ongoing protests by Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees.

He said provoking the protesters would backfire and argued that it would not be wise for the student organization to intervene in the movement at this stage.

Sarba Mitra made the remarks in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

"At this point, it would not be wise for Chhatra Dal to take the lead in handling the movement," he wrote. "A Chhatra Dal activist has already labeled the protesters as drug addicts."

He also alleged that some people were circulating and exploiting private videos of female HSC examinees. "That will only make the protesters angrier. The country has a government, the relevant authorities, and an administration. Let them handle the movement. Provoking the protesters will only backfire," Sarba Mitra wrote.
