Nasiruddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), is set to travel to Tehran to attend the funeral and state memorial ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Patwary confirmed the matter to Agamir Somoy on Wednesday, saying he will attend the events as the NCP’s sole representative.
According to party sources, Patwary has already applied for a visa at the Iranian Embassy. However, he has not yet received the visa and therefore has been unable to book his flight. As a result, the date of his departure from Dhaka and his flight details have not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, a delegation from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, one of the NCP’s allied parties, is also scheduled to visit Tehran.
The delegation will be led by the party’s Naib-e-Ameer, Professor Mujibur Rahman. Other members include Md. Nurul Amin, Dr. Md. Keramat Ali, and Dr. SM Khaliduzzaman.
The Jamaat delegation is scheduled to leave Dhaka on July 3 and will remain in Iran until July 9.
