Autocracy and hidden force together create instability

PM Tarique Rahman.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said autocracy and the hidden (authorities) are joining forces to try to create instability in the country. "We must stay alert about this. They must be resisted," the PM said at a public rally in Feni.

He was addressing the rally on Thursday afternoon at an event organised to distribute farmers' cards, family cards, and allowances for imams and muazzins at the field of Fulgazi Pilot High School in Feni.

Tarique Rahman said BNP works for the development of the country's people when it comes to power. We have taken initiatives to reopen closed factories. If these institutions can be reopened, the people of the country will benefit.

He alleged that one side does not think about the country's people. They have no public welfare programs. They are creating instability in the country by merely shouting one demand, one demand.

He said, "Before the election, I promised that if we go to government, we will give farmer cards and family cards. We have kept that promise."

He said flood control, water drainage, and irrigation projects have been inaugurated to save the people of this region from the suffering of floods. If this is implemented, there will be no more floods here. Rather, we will hold water during the monsoon season and use that water later in the dry season.

In one context, the Prime Minister said martyred President Ziaur Rahman added 31 beds to existing hospitals at that time in the country. Later, Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia upgraded these hospitals to 50-bedded. This time we will introduce 150-bed service in the hospitals.

He said good law and order is needed for the country's development. If anyone wants to worsen this situation, you will resist that. It must be maintained at any cost.

Referring to the opposition party, he said a party wanted to give tickets to heaven before the election. Except for one Allah, this is not possible for anyone. He referred to it as 'shirk.'

Recalling the past days, he said our leaders and activists had to endure unspeakable torture over the past 17 years. Many were victims of enforced disappearance and murder. But they did not adopt a disguise. They were in the field. But they were not seen then.

Addressing the crowd present, he said if you want to continue the trend of development, stay with us. And those who want to create chaos—you will resist them.

In another context, he said freedom fighters are the golden children of the nation. They made the country independent with their blood. We respect them.

The event was presided over by Social Welfare Minister Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, and among those who spoke were Agriculture Minister Aminur Rashid, Prime Minister's Advisor Ismail Zabihullah, Feni-1 MP Rafiqul Alam Maznu, Feni-2 MP Professor Zainal Abedin, reserved women's seat MP Rehana Akter Ranu, and some others.

Earlier, the Prime Minister planted a tree on the premises of Begum Khaleda Zia Women's College, established in his mother's name. At that time, he spoke briefly with teachers and students. Later, he inaugurated a solar project with a production capacity of 349 kilowatts on the roof of the District Council Dak Bungalow.
