The National Citizen Party (NCP) will hold a mass protest in the capital today, Friday, demanding the fulfillment of four key demands.
The protest will be held at 3:30 pm in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh. It has been jointly organized by the NCP’s Dhaka North and South units.
NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Md Nahid Islam MP will attend the program as the chief guest. The party’s Member Secretary Akhter Hossain MP will deliver the keynote speech. Members of the NCP’s political council and other senior party leaders will also address the gathering.
The NCP’s four demands include the resignation of the home affairs and energy ministers over their failures; the dissolution of the one-party Constitution Amendment Committee and the formation of a Constitution Reform Council based on the public mandate expressed through the referendum; the repeal of all laws that violate human rights and freedom of speech; and the rejection of the proposed amendments to the Cyber Security Act.
The party has also demanded that the trial of the July massacre be completed and the verdict implemented immediately.
The NCP has called on party leaders and activists as well as members of the public to participate in the mass protest organized by its Dhaka North and South units.
Ahead of the program, the party has been distributing leaflets over the past week.
