Government has completely failed to stop extortion, terrorism: Charmonai Pir

Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim (Pir Saheb Charmonai), Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB), has said that extortion, terrorism, corruption, looting, enforced disappearance, and murder, along with various other social evils, are increasing day by day in the country. The government has completely failed to eliminate these evils. His remarks came today, Tuesday, as he was speaking as chief guest at the ward representatives' conference of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Dhaka Metropolitan North and South in the capital.

Pir Sahib Charmonai said, we have already passed the golden jubilee of independence. The people of this country have given their lives in various movements and struggles in the hope of liberation. But the desired liberation of the people has still not come. Under the policy by which the country is being run, even if the diamond jubilee or centenary of independence is celebrated, the fate of the people will not change.

He said various parties have been tested by the people by placing them in power. But under the existing policy, no one has been able to bring about the desired change in society and the state. Forgetting the manifestos given before the elections, they continue to deceive the people. Islami Andolan Bangladesh has never compromised on the question of policy, nor will it do so in the future. It is the people's expectation that the change of policy in the country will come through the hands of Islami Andolan.

At the conference, IAB Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman said that the top leaders of Islami Andolan Bangladesh led the July mass uprising from the front. After August 5, there was an expectation that the trend of extortion and deception in politics would not remain. But the desired change is still not visible in reality.

He said the BNP government is still delaying on the matters of the July Charter. They should remember that if things continue like this, it will not take long for a public explosion. Islami Andolan Bangladesh has no secret agenda. We have said in the past, we say now, and in the future we will say openly to the nation—we want to implement Islamic Shariah.

In the president's speech, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, president of IAB Dhaka Metropolitan South, said that leaders and activists must spread into every ward, alley, and byway and build public opinion in favor of Shariah. The victory of Shariah will begin from the wards of Dhaka Metropolitan South.

In his speech as special guest, Atiqur Rahman Mujahid, president of Dhaka Metropolitan North, said that Islami Andolan is moving forward after setting its vision and mission properly. If the people elect them, Dhaka Metropolitan will be built as a smart city.

The conference was conducted by KM Shariatullah, secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South. Others who also spoke at the conference included IAB Presidium Member Syed Mosaddek Billah Al Madani, Joint Secretary General Principal Sheikh Fazle Bari Masoud, Engineer Ashraful Alam, Dhaka Divisional Organizing Secretary Maulana Ariful Islam, Metropolitan South Vice President GM Ruhul Amin, Alhaj MH Mostafa, Alhaj Abdur Razzak, Metropolitan North Vice President Maulana Tajul Islam, Principal Zillur Rahman, Metropolitan North Secretary Maulana Nurul Islam Naeem, and Maulana Faridul Islam, among others.
