Budget Session
Motion of Condolence for Tofail Ahmed and 16 others

The names of Awami League Advisory Council member and former Bhola-1 MP Tofail Ahmed, along with 16 former ministers, state ministers, whips, and members of parliament, were included in a motion of condolence adopted in the National Parliament.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed moved the condolence motion during the second session of the 13th National Parliament on Sunday afternoon. The House later passed it. Parliament observed one minute of silence in memory of the deceased.
The session paid tribute to former Jatiya Party MP Syed Md. Kaisar; former MP from BNP and State Minister Professor MA Mannan; former MP from BNP GM Fazlul Haque; former MP of Manikganj-1 ABM Anwarul Haque; former Technocrat Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed; former MP and freedom fighter Md. Samsuddha; former MP from Jatiya Party Abu Nur Mohammad Bahaul Haque; former MP from BNP Dewan Shamsul Abedin; and former MP from Jatiya Party and Deputy Minister Golam Sarwar Milon.
In addition, the condolence motion included former MP of Mymensingh-4 Moslem Uddin; former MP of Chattogram-1 and freedom fighter Engineer Mosharraf Hossain; former MP of Munshiganj-2 and State Minister Mizanur Rahman Sinha; former Mp of Thakurgaon-2 Md. Dabirul Islam; former MP of Bhola-1 and freedom fighter Tofail Ahmed; former MP of Moulvibazar-2 and freedom fighter Md. Abdul Matin; and former MP of Dhaka-11 AKM Rahmat Ullah.
Earlier at 3:00 pm on Sunday, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided over the opening of the second session of the 13th National Parliament. It marks the first budget session of the current parliament. Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is scheduled to present the national budget for fiscal year 2026-27 on June 11. This will be the first budget of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s government.
