32 DCs involved in 'Night Voting' sent to forced retirement

The government has forced retired 32 officers, including the then-Deputy Commissioners (DCs) who served as Returning Officers in the 'controversial' 11th National Parliamentary Election in 2018. They were most recently serving as Joint Secretaries (OSD).
Today (Monday), the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding their abrupt retirement.
The notification said their service tenure has reached 25 years, and since the government considers it necessary in the public interest to retire them from government service, they have been retired under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018. As per the rules, these officers will be entitled to retirement benefits.
The officers sent into mandatory retirement, who served as Deputy Commissioners in various districts, are: Md. Motiul Islam Chowdhury (Patuakhali), Mohammad Masud Alam Siddique (Bhola), S. M. Aziyor Rahman (Barishal), Waheduzzaman (Feni), Md. Shahidul Islam (Khagrachhari), Saroj Kumar Nath (Jhenaidah), Md. Jasim Uddin (Pabna), Mohammad Abdul Ahad (Sunamganj), Md. Kamal Hossain (Cox's Bazar), A. K. M. Mamunur Rashid (Rangamati), Anjan Chandra Pal (Lakshmipur), Mohammad Ilias Hossain (Chattogram), Md. Mizanur Rahman (Mymensingh), A. Z. M. Nurul Haq (Mymensingh) Kazi Abu Taher (Shariatpur), Md. Shahriar (Natore), Mohammad Daudul Islam (Bandarban), Moinul Islam (Netrokona), Md. Aslam Hossain (Kushtia), Abul Fazal Mir (Cumilla), Md. Majedur Rahman Khan (Chandpur), S. M. Ferdous (Manikganj), Gopal Chandra Das (Chuadanga), Najia Shirin (Nilphamari), Mst. Sultana Parveen (Kurigram), Anarkali Mahbub (Sherpur), Md. Helal Hossain (Khulna), Seeda Farhana Kawnine (Narsingdi), Md. Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury (Kishoreganj), Mahmudul Kabir Murad (Habiganj), Md. Ali Akbar, and S. M. Abdul Kader (Rajshahi).
According to government policy-making sources, these public administration bureaucrats played a 'special role' in the 2018 national election to keep the Awami League government in power. Many of them were also involved in anti-July 2024 uprising activities. As their service tenure had reached 25 years, they were promptly sent into compulsory retirement according to regulations. These BCS 20th batch officers had been serving as OSD (Officer on Special Duty) until now.
