The third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is set to be inaugurated on December 16, Victory Day. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) is working towards this goal in line with government directives. Japan may take over the ground handling responsibilities for the third terminal by late August or early September. CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq expressed optimism that an agreement regarding this matter could be reached.
He shared this information while speaking at a workshop on civil aviation and air traffic operations on Monday afternoon.
Additionally, in consideration of passenger safety, media personnel have been requested not to fly drones in the airport area. The request pointed out that to ensure security in the area, an anti-drone system will be installed around the airport, this year.
Furthermore, the CAAB mentioned that with the establishment of Air Traffic Control (ATC), revenue collection is expected to increase by 8 percent annually through flight charges imposed on foreign aircraft in the country's maritime area.
