A father and son were killed in a collision between a pickup van and a motorcycle in Kurigram’s Rajarhat upazila.

The accident occurred at around 7:30 AM on Saturday in the Koshaitari Shimlar Tal area of the Rajarhat–Teesta highway.

The deceased were identified as Dulu Mia (28) and his father Siddik Sheikh. They were residents of the Bagmari Panchagram area on the Kurigram–Lalmonirhat border.

Locals said the accident took place when the motorcycle was crossing a railway line in the morning and was hit by a fish-laden pickup van coming from the opposite direction toward Rajarhat. The motorcycle was severely damaged, leaving both riders injured.

Locals took Dulu Mia to Kurigram General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Siddik Sheikh was first admitted to Rajarhat Upazila Health Complex. Later, as his condition worsened, he was being taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital when he died on the way.

Rajarhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mamunur Rashid said the pickup van fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police visited the site, and an investigation is underway. Legal action is being processed.
