Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said thunderstorms are expected in Dhaka. Storms may occur in seven regions of the country and cautionary signal number 3 remains in effect for the country’s four seaports.

In the weather forecast issued for the six-hour period starting at 7 am on Saturday, sky may remain temporarily cloudy to cloudy. Rain or thunderstorms may occur, with winds blowing from the south or southeast at 10-15 kilometers per hour, while the day temperature is expected to remain mostly unchanged.

At 6 am, the temperature in Dhaka was 27.8 degrees Celsius, with air humidity recorded at 87 percent. The minimum temperature is 27.5 degrees Celsius.

The weather forecast for the country’s internal river ports from 5 am to 1 pm added that temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms may blow from the south or southeast at 45-60 kilometers per hour over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar.

River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.

A forecast signed on Friday said the land depression located over Jharkhand and the adjoining Gangetic West Bengal area moved west-northwestward, weakened, and is positioned over Jharkhand and surrounding areas as a well-marked low.

It is expected to move further west-northwestward and gradually weaken. Due to its influence, squally winds may blow over the seaports, the North Bay of Bengal, and the coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports have been instructed to keep local cautionary signal number 3 hoisted. Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
