Nine burned in three incidents in Narayanganj, six in critical condition

At least nine people were injured in three separate incidents in Kanchpur, Fatullah and Deobhog in Narayanganj. Of them, four people burned in an explosion caused by a gas cylinder leak in Kanchpur and two workers who suffered chemical burns in Fatullah have been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Their conditions are critical.
Meanwhile, three more people, including a man and a woman, were injured in an explosion caused by accumulated gas inside a house in the Deobhog area of the district.
The gas cylinder leak caused an explosion in Kanchpur at around 1:30 am on Saturday. Four members of two families suffered burns in the incident. They were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. According to doctors, 40% to 70% of their bodies were burned.
On the same day, at around 10:30 pm, two workers suffered chemical burns in Fatullah. They sustained burns covering 54% and 55% of their bodies respectively. They were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Dr. Sultan Mahmud Sikder, a resident surgeon in the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said the four people burned in the Kanchpur incident were receiving necessary treatment. Their physical conditions were being monitored. Treatment was also ongoing for the two workers burned in the Fatullah incident.
Meanwhile, an explosion occurred early Sunday morning in the kitchen of a house in Deobhog due to accumulated gas. Three people, including a man and a woman, were injured.
Abdullah Al Arifin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Narayanganj, said the injured people in Deobhog were Shikha Rani, Mona Acharya and Mona’s mother. They were rescued and taken to the 300-bed hospital in Khanpur, Narayanganj. The cause of the explosion and details of the damage were not immediately known.
