Prime Minister Asks Women MPs to Be More Effective

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the BNP women members of parliament from the reserved seats to prepare themselves to play an effective role in the National Parliament.
The Prime Minister gave this instruction to the newly elected women MPs of the party during a meeting on Monday afternoon. The meeting was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Public Administration in the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to the Prime Minister's Office Press Wing, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said this in a meeting so that the MPs could get prepared as skilled parliamentarians and stay well-informed. He emphasized that they must have a clear understanding of the Rules of Procedure of the National Parliament.
The Prime Minister directed the women MPs to be cautious and responsible when delivering speeches in the National Parliament.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also instructed the MPs to remain vigilant so that no one can misinterpret religion to mislead the public. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of increasing public engagement in their respective areas.
The Prime Minister remarked that for 17 years, the public endured a form of mental agony, and people were unable to speak out. He added that since the BNP government came to power, citizens have been enjoying all forms of democratic rights.
During the meeting, the women MPs shared their opinions on various topics, including the working procedures of MPs in the National Parliament, the current political situation, and the implementation of the government's electoral pledges.
A total of 36 women MPs from the BNP attended the meeting, and 17 of them delivered speeches.
Following the meeting, Member of Parliament Arifa Sultana Ruma shared that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman assured them that party-level training on parliamentary procedures would be provided to them before the commencement of the second session of the 13th National Parliament.
She added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also instructed them to engage more closely with the people of their respective areas and to highlight the party's ideology and activities at the grassroots level.
Among others, BNP Secretary General and Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, as well as the party's Senior Joint Secretary General and Political and Agricultural Advisor to the Prime Minister Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, were present at the meeting.
