Two accused in Sheikh Ahad murder case arrested in Rampal

The SRB has arrested two accused in the murder case of Sheikh Ahad Ahmed Itu (23), in Rampal, Bagerhat. They were arrested from the Laripara area of Phultala upazila in Khulna at around 3:30 am on Tuesday.
The arrested men are Baki Billah Sheikh (47), and Masum Billah Sheikh (52), from Kismat Chanditala village in the upazila. They are the victim’s uncles.
Syed Fazlur Rahman, media officer of SRB 6, confirmed the arrest of the accused named as Nos. 1 and 2 in the case.
He said the victim’s elder brother Sheikh Rahat filed a murder case at Rampal Police Station.
According to the case statement, there had been a long-standing dispute between the complainant’s side and the accused’s side over fish enclosures and land. As a result of the dispute, the accused allegedly abused and insulted Ahad’s father Farid Uddin on the road in front of Ahad’s house in Chanditala village yesterday. Later, when Ahad came out of the house and onto the road, he was hacked indiscriminately with sharp weapons and seriously injured. Local people took him to Rampal Upazila Health Complex where a doctor declared him dead.
SRB media officer Fazlur said the accused were located by analyzing the case statement. They were handed over to Rampal Police Station for further legal action.
