The Election Commission (EC) has begun the process of finalizing polling stations ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
The final list of polling stations will be officially published on August 27. This timeline was chalked out in a memo signed today, Wednesday, by the EC’s Senior Assistant Secretary, Md. Rashid Miah.
According to the letter, the "Local Government Institution Election Polling Station Establishment and Management Policy-2025" mandates that the final list of polling stations must be published in the official gazette at least 25 days prior to the election date. To meet this deadline, objections and claims regarding the draft list will be entertained until August 18. These complaints and claims will be resolved by August 23, paving the way for the publication of the final gazette.
Furthermore, the concerned officials have been instructed to prepare the polling station lists in strict accordance with the policy, ensure the maximum utilization of permanent infrastructure, and submit both hard and soft copies of the final list to the EC within seven days of the election schedule announcement.
