Former Joint Secretary Syed Jaglul Pasha arrested

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) has arrested former Joint Secretary Syed Jaglul Pasha for preparing forged documents and giving false testimony in court in the Zia Orphanage Trust case filed against former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
DB Additional Police Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest on Wednesday afternoon.
He said Pasha was arrested from the area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:50 pm on Tuesday. Several cases have also been filed against him.
According to DB sources, former Joint Secretary Syed Jaglul Pasha was returning to Dhaka by air from Cox’s Bazar. He was later arrested at around 8:50 pm after being placed under surveillance in the airport area.
It is learned that Syed Jaglul Pasha is an accused named in the First Information Report in a case filed under the Special Powers Act with Gulshan Police Station, the Parvez murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, a case related to Operation Eagle Hunt filed with Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj, and the BNP leader Altab Hossain murder case filed with Daulatpur Police Station in Kushtia.
He is also connected to a case filed over an incident in 2013 in which a truck loaded with sand was placed in front of the BNP office in Banani, creating an obstruction.
The DB also said further legal proceedings against him are underway.
