Measles, related symptoms claim lives of 7 more children

Seven more children have died in the past 24 hours, from 8:00 am Thursday to 8:00 am Friday, due to measles and measles-like symptoms in the country.
The information was disclosed in a statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday.
With the latest deaths, a total of 42 children have died of measles since March 15, while 198 children have died with measles-like symptoms.
The health directorate said that in the past 24 hours, six children died in Dhaka Division from measles and related symptoms. One child with measles-like symptoms died in Sylhet Division.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,215 children across the country developed measles-like symptoms. Of them, 860 were admitted to hospitals, including 363 from Dhaka Division. A total of 799 children with symptoms were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, including 373 from Dhaka Division.
According to health directorate data, a total of 29,549 children have shown measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, 19,705 were admitted to hospitals, while 4,231 were confirmed to have measles. The number of patients discharged from hospitals stands at 16,527.
