No one spared in violence, vandalism investigations: Zahed

Prime Minister’s Information Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said authorities will bring those involved in violence, vandalism, or violations of citizens’ rights to justice through a fair investigation.
He made these remarks on Tuesday in a weekly press conference at the Secretariat in Dhaka and added that the investigation will not stop midway, and no one will be spared even if the involvement of ruling party members or police negligence is proven.
Zahed noted that the government holds a responsibility to ensure the security of citizens, and whenever a citizen’s rights are violated, an installation is damaged, or anyone falls victim to an attack - even if the victim is an offender - the government feels sorry about every incident.
Addressing the attacks on the Radda MCH-FP Centre and Salman Muqtadir’s studio, he noted that law enforcement is apprehending those involved in vandalism and crime, while a detailed investigation remains underway. He assured that justice will be ensured through strict measures to prevent any recurrence of such events in the future.
While expressing sympathy toward Salman, Zahed criticized his statements linking the BNP to the attack. He also criticized Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman for spreading Salman’s baseless statements.
Zahed said, “Seeing Salman’s video, Shafiqur posted a status, and that status is still on his verified Facebook, where he posted the status specifically mentioning extortion and blamed the government, blamed the party.
“But after the statement Salman made, he admitted that the matter was actually not like that, and not only his establishment, but more establishments were also vandalized here, but that status still remains on the opposition leader’s Facebook.”
He added, “Not only him, many leaders of the NCP have made objectionable statements in aggressive language targeting not only BNP, but the head of BNP and the head of this government.”
Calling upon the news media, Zahed urged, “I request not to create misleading headlines by taking small isolated parts of statements, so that no statement is distorted.”
