HSC examinees protesting over their demands have split into two groups over whether to retain the demand for the education minister’s resignation. One group is staying in front of the Education Building, while another is positioned at Shahbagh intersection.
According to reports, one of the protesters announced while demonstrating in front of the Education Building on Wednesday afternoon that the demand for the ‘education minister’s resignation’ would be dropped. He said they would enter into talks with the government with a total of six demands. At that point, a section of the protesters rejected the announcement and left for Shahbagh.
One of the protesters remaining in front of the Education Building said a six-member delegation had been granted permission to enter the Secretariat. However, as of 5:45 pm Wednesday, it had not yet been decided who would be included in the delegation.
The protesters who moved toward Shahbagh said they remain firm on their previous three demands, including the education minister’s resignation. They said they would continue their movement until their demands are met.
Earlier, at around 4 pm, police stopped the protesters when they reached the front of the Education Building. They then sat down there.
