HSC examinees leading the ongoing movement have announced a new program demanding the resignation of the education adviser. According to the program, they will observe a ‘March to the Ministry of Education’ on Wednesday.
The announcement was made around 3 pm Tuesday by protesting students in Uttara. At the time, they issued an ultimatum demanding the resignation of Education Adviser A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
Meanwhile, protesters staged a demonstration in the Dhaka University (DU) campus area on Tuesday morning, demanding the resignation of the education adviser. At one stage, when they tried to move forward to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, police stopped them.
As pushing and shoving broke out between the two sides, more than 50 leaders and activists, led by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, stepped in to calm the situation. Tensions later flared up again there. Students chanted, ‘Fake, fake.’
After concluding a sit-in program at DU that lasted about an hour, the protesters headed toward the Science Lab intersection in the capital.
