Child dies after falling from rooftop in Dhaka

A nine-year-old girl died after falling from the roof of a three-story building in the Chand Uddan area of Mohammadpur in the capital. The accident occurred at around 1:00 pm on Saturday.
The child was identified as Mosammat Nusrat Jahan Jahalika (9). She was a first grader at Hamim Model School in Mohammadpur.
Nusrat's elder sister Priti Akter said Nusrat was playing on the roof of a three-story building next to their rented home in Chand Uddan at noon. She fell while trying to move from one rooftop to another.
She was quickly rescued in critical condition and taken to a local hospital first. As her condition deteriorated, she was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 3:00 pm. Doctors examined her and declared her dead.
Inspector Md. Habibur Rahman, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said the body had been kept in the hospital morgue and the relevant police station had been informed.
Nusrat was the daughter of Md. Sajib, a battery-operated auto rickshaw businessman from Deula village under Borhanuddin Police Station in Bhola district.
