You have eaten a lot in six months, seems you will eat up the party too: BNP MP

Rafiqul Islam Jamal
Rafiqul Islam Jamal, a member of Parliament from the Jhalakathi 1 constituency covering Rajapur and Kathalia and central religious affairs secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has urged party leaders and activists to stop their constant hunger to grab everything. He made the appeal in a post on his verified Facebook account Thursday night.
In his post, Rafiqul Islam said, “I request the leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations in Jhalakathi to stop this constant hunger to grab everything. You have eaten a lot in six months. You have eaten in exchange for guarding Awami League leaders and activists, you have eaten by defending the Awami League, you have eaten by guarding Awami League members’ homes, and you have eaten by guarding contracting businesses. In the end, you are even eating by bringing Awami League members into the party in exchange for money. It seems you will eat up the party itself.”
He also said, “You should have some shame. On August 5, you could not even offer a prayer for the martyrs of July 36, whose blood gave you the opportunity to eat so much. If you remain focused only on your desire for positions so that you can become a leader, you will soon be dropped from the party.”
Soon after the post was published, the matter began to draw discussion in Jhalakathi’s political circles. Some party leaders and activists believe Rafiqul Islam made the comments out of anger over several recent incidents.
