Van driver killed in hit and run by speeding pickup truck in Maheshkhali

A van driver named Aman Ullah (49), was killed after being hit by a speeding pickup truck (dumper) in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The accident occurred at around 12:30 pm on Friday on the main road along a hilly slope in Chhota Maheshkhali.
Aman Ullah was a resident of Bara Kulal Para in Ward No. 5 of Bara Maheshkhali Union. Alongside driving a van, he was also involved in the scrap business.
Witness Imtiaz Mamun said Aman Ullah was riding his van along the main road when a speeding dumper hit him. He sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
Locals later rescued him and took him to Maheshkhali Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Officer in Charge of Maheshkhali Police Station Mohammad Abdus Sultan said police were looking into the accident. Police had visited the scene, and necessary legal action would be taken over the incident.
