Six special trains for Durga Puja, weekly holidays canceled for 8 trains

Railway authorities are set to add six special trains to the fleet ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja. An additional coach will also be added to 85 trains. The weekly holidays of eight trains have also been canceled.
The decision to add additional coaches was approved by the railway on Wednesday (October 7). However, approval for the allocation of the special trains is still pending.
The Ministry of Railways said a train named “Dhaka Special” will leave Chattogram for Dhaka at 2:30 pm on October 20. The train will reach Dhaka at 7:30 pm.
On the same day, “Tourist Special 1” will leave Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar at 10:30 p.m. The train will reach Cox’s Bazar at 6:50 a.m. the following day. The same train will again leave Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar at the same time on October 23.
“Tourist Special 2” will operate from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka on October 23 and 24. On both days, the train will leave Cox’s Bazar at 11:30 am and reach Dhaka at 10 pm. On October 24, “Chattogram Special” will leave Dhaka for Chattogram at 10:30 pm and reach Chattogram at 4 am.
An analysis of railway documents shows that one additional coach will be added to 32 trains in the eastern zone and 53 trains in the western zone.
In the eastern zone, one additional coach will be added to the Jayantika, Upaban and Parabat Express trains on the Dhaka Sylhet Dhaka route on October 19 and 24. One additional coach will also be added to the Teesta, Haor and Mohanganj Express trains on the Dhaka Dewanganj Bazar Dhaka and Dhaka Mohanganj Dhaka routes.
In addition, one additional coach will be added to the Paharika Express from Chattogram to Sylhet, Sonar Bangla from Chattogram to Dhaka and Turna from Chattogram to Dhaka on October 19. Two additional coaches will be added to the Udayan train from Chattogram to Sylhet.
On October 20, one additional coach will be added to Subarna from Chattogram to Dhaka, Sonar Bangla from Chattogram to Dhaka, Meghna from Chattogram to Chandpur, Udayan from Chattogram to Sylhet and Turna from Chattogram to Dhaka.
On October 21, one additional coach will be added to Subarna from Chattogram to Dhaka, Saikat from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar, Paharika from Chattogram to Sylhet and Sonar Bangla from Chattogram to Dhaka.
On October 24, one additional coach will be added to Subarna, Sonar Bangla and Turna from Chattogram to Dhaka and Udayan from Chattogram to Sylhet. However, the names of the trains in the western zone have not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, the railway has canceled the weekly holidays of eight trains. Among them, the Jahanabad Express from Khulna to Dhaka and the Rupshibanga Express from Benapole to Dhaka will operate on October 19.
The Padma Express from Rajshahi to Dhaka will operate on October 20 and the Madhumati Express will operate on October 24.
