Fire Erupts at Chawkbazar Building, Six Units Respond

A fire broke out in a shop on the third floor of the seven-story Ashik Tower in the Khwaja Market area of Chawkbazar in the capital on Saturday. Six units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence are working to bring the blaze under control.
According to the Fire Service, it received the emergency call at 1:34 pm.
Duty Officer Khaleda Yasmin at the Fire Service control room confirmed the incident to Agamir Somoy.
She said two units from the Lalbagh Fire Station were dispatched immediately after the report and arrived at the scene at 1:46 pm, where firefighters began extinguishing the fire. Additional units were later deployed, bringing the total number of responding units to six.
The cause of the fire, as well as any casualties or the extent of the damage, was not immediately known.
