Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq to Be Honored at Central Shaheed Minar

Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq

Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq will make his final visits to the University of Dhaka and the Bangla Academy. This time, however, his body will be taken there for people to pay their respects. He breathed his last on Sunday afternoon at a hospital in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Shuchita Sharmin, daughter of Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq, told Agamir Somoy that his body will be taken to the Bangla Academy at 10:30 am on Monday.

Until his death, Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq served as president of the Bangla Academy. Colleagues from the academy, along with members of the arts and cultural community, will pay tribute to him there.

The body will be taken from the Bangla Academy to the Central Shaheed Minar at 11 am, where people will be able to pay their respects until 12:30 pm It will then be taken to Aparajeyo Bangla at the University of Dhaka at 1 pm and kept there for a short period. A funeral prayer will be held after Zuhr at the university’s central mosque.

As of 7 pm on Sunday, no decision had been made regarding his burial, Shuchita Sharmin said.
