Conspirators will get a crushing response like Nov 7: Prime Minister

Alleging that conspiracies are being hatched in the country again, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, like November 7 of 1975, the conspirators will be given a crushing reply.

The Prime Minister issued this warning while speaking at a pre-rally gathering in front of BNP's central office in Nayapaltan in the capital, Saturday afternoon.

Tarique Rahman said, "Like in the past, they are still involved in conspiracies. Once again they want to keep Bangladesh's sovereignty suppressed; they want to introduce a dummy election system. The people of a country who could fight in 1971, who could bring about the sepoy-people's revolution in 1975, who could bring about the student-people's mass uprising in 2024—the people of that country cannot be kept suppressed through conspiracy."

The BNP president reiterated the call to give a united, crushing reply to the conspirators.

He said, "Like 1971, like November 7, 1975, like the nineties, we want to give a crushing reply again. Let today's revolutionary rally be the day that fulfills that expectation. Let it be the day to protect the country's independence and sovereignty. At the same time, let today's November 7 be the day to protect the democracy that the people of Bangladesh established by sacrificing their lives on August 5, 2024."

At that time, seeking the support of thousands of leaders and activists gathered in Nayapaltan, the Prime Minister said, "Are you with us?" Leaders, activists and supporters expressed their support by applauding.

Earlier, around 3 pm, Tarique Rahman ascended the stage in front of BNP's central office. At that time, BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Professor A Z M Zahid Hossain, and Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, along with senior leaders of the party, were present on the stage.

From 12 noon, leaders and activists began gathering in Nayapaltan in small processions. A crowd formed around the rally from Kakrail intersection to Fakirapool intersection. In their hands were the red-green flag of Bangladesh and placards bearing the images of martyr President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. They joined the rally wearing caps and jerseys of various colors.

The head of government said, "November 7 is the day of national unity, the day of protecting Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty, the day of the freedom of speech of the people of Bangladesh."

"I want to say again—not Delhi, not Pindi, nor any other country; Bangladesh above all." After the slogan, he said, "Come, let us begin our revolution today."

Earlier, at the beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister said, "The students and people of the country have not only restored independence and sovereignty; they have also driven out that autocracy, those conspirators, from the country. Just as on November 7, 1975, those evil forces were defeated, in the same way on August 5, 2024, through a movement with the participation of the country's people, those evil forces were defeated."

After concluding his speech, the Prime Minister walked on foot to join the rally. Cabinet members and BNP leaders of various levels joined the rally with him. Around 4:30 pm, reaching Manik Mia Avenue, Tarique Rahman delivered the concluding speech there.
