National Parliament’s Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni informed Agamir Somoy that the new president will take the oath at 7:30 pm on 21 August.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Darbar Hall of president’s office. Voting for the presidential election is scheduled to be held on Thursday in the Parliament.
Two candidates are competing for the position of the country’s 23rd president: Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from the BNP and Col (retd) Oli Ahmad from the 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami.
